The Opportunity

As an After School Educator, you will play an essential role in children's learning and growth, including physical and social development, in a safe and child-centred environment. As an After School Educator, your primary focus is to interact and actively engage with children aged 5-12 years. You will be responsible for completing/planning weekly program plans based on the children’s interests. Individuals will form relationships with children and their families to create a safe, welcoming environment for all.

 

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a group of up to 15 children, ages 5-12 years and provide strong and positive leadership.
  • Plan, organize and deliver daily activities.
  • Understand and comply with the New Brunswick Child Care facilities standards and Child Protection Practices. 
  • Understand the YMCA Healthy Child Development Program and incorporate it into programming.
  • Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to and in the event of an emergency response as trained by the Association.
  • Acts immediately and appropriately to secure the safety of patrons in the event of an emergency.
  • Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.

 

Skills and qualifications

  • Experience working in Child Care is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the New Brunswick Curriculum Framework and/ or A Place to Connect is an asset.
  • Strong work ethic and excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • First Aid/CPR or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to work flexible hours within the times of 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm.
